A new kind of instrument.
Visuell is a four layer audio-visual instrument that runs entirely in your browser.
Chop, sequence, modulate, and morph, with real-time video FX on every layer. Use
your own samples or pull from the community library. Your sets save instantly and
open anywhere that runs a browser. With a workflow inspired by audio grooveboxes,
it is lean by design.
Mix & Layer
Visuell mixes visuals like tracks on an audio mixer. Each layer has its own
settings and sources like video, live input or generated visuals. Mute hides a
layer. S solos. Up and down change the order. The stack square shows stack
position. Layer controls change per-layer settings.
Arrange
Scenes are Visuell’s foundation for composing. A scene takes a snapshot of all
layer settings: mute, solo, opacity, blend, effects and more. Scenes may also
trigger video from a set start. You then place those scenes on a sequencer and
perform them in time. Scene pads recall a scene. Power starts or stops the
sequencer. Press any sequencer step to assign the last played scene, or press
again to clear. The yellow step shows the sequencer playhead. Dice and trash
shuffle or clear the pattern.
Modulate
Here, an LFO is already running into Saturation. Turn Saturation by hand to feel
the base colour, then nudge Rate or Depth and watch the colour keep pulsing on
its own.
Modulation moves a parameter over time so the picture keeps changing without your
hand on the knob. An LFO is a repeating shape — wave, rate, depth — that you patch
onto any setting. The slider is the parameter being driven. The waveform shows the
LFO shape; drag sideways to set wave phase. Wave changes the shape. Rate changes
how fast it moves. Depth changes how far it swings.
Morph
Visuell offers playful control for visuals out of the box. Morph blends four saved
scenes from one XY pad. Each corner holds a scene, and the puck’s movement mixes
them together - closer to a corner, more of that scene.
Build a live visual set in four moves.
Mix your sources
Treat any video like a sample. Trim start, length, and loop on the filmstrip.
Sequence the moment
Map MIDI pads, knobs, and faders, then perform scenes and effects live.
Make the image react
Map audio and modulation to visual parameters.
Perform and share
Play the set live. Capture the output, or publish it as a playable Toy.
Visuell features
No install. No desktop rig. Just a browser tab.
Visuell runs entirely in the browser. Your clips, packs, and Toys sync to your
library, ready when you open a tab on any machine. Layer clips, cameras, and
generated visuals into one live output.
Fast and focused. Create performable visuals in under 10 seconds.
Visuell uses a groovebox layout for moving images. If you know samplers and
synths, the shape feels familiar. If not, it stays playful, direct, and capable.
Trigger scenes and sampled slices in time.
Route in audio. Let the visuals follow its shape.
Audio can be loaded, trimmed, looped, and analyzed for tempo. Build a playlist,
set waveform regions, stream input audio, and make the image respond to sound. Map
audio and modulation to visual parameters.
Plug in a controller. Put every move under your fingers.
Visuell turns MIDI into a performance surface. Map pads, knobs, and faders to
scenes, effects, and parameters, or follow external MIDI clock.
Record the performance. Keep the takes that worked.
Visuell can capture the master output as you play. Use count-in, count-out, and
timed lengths, then keep takes ready to review, save, or reuse.
